Autumn ABC
Apple Breakfast Crumble
Ingredients:
- 3 pounds sliced and cored granny smith apples
- 3/4 cup whole wheat flour, (may substitute all purpose white)
- 1/4 cup ground flax seed, (may replace with flour)
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp Spice Hunter Ground Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Spice Hunter Ground Nutmeg
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pour prepared apples in large glass baking pan. We prefer to leave the peels on, but your family might prefer to have the apples peeled.
- Mix dry ingredients together in large bowl. Using pastry blender or two forks cut the butter into the dry mixture until crumbly. Do not over mix. It should not be smooth. Not all dry ingredients need to be touching butter.
- Pour topping over apples and bake until golden brown and bubbly. Fabulous served warm on a cold autumn morning. Perfect with a side of crispy bacon!(Nitrate free of course)
