Asian Baked Yams

Notes/Suggestions: I hear from many people looking for a holiday recipe for Yams or Sweet Potatoes devoid of marshmallows. Here is one I think you will like.

Ingredients:

  • 2 large yams, peeled and cubed
  • 1 large garlic clove, mashed
  • ¼ tsp. The Spice Hunter 100% Organic Ground Cloves
  • ¼ tsp. The Spice Hunter 100% Organic Allspice
  • ¼ tsp. The Spice Hunter 100% Organic Ginger
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup Madeira or dry sherry
  • ¼ cup soy sauce

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Put cubed yams in large bowl.
  2. Mix together all other ingredients to make a marinade. Pour marinade over yams and toss well.
  3. Spread yams in a large roasting pan. Cover pan with foil and bake for 30-45 minutes or until tender.
  4. Cook remaining marinade over medium heat until reduced by half. Serve as a dipping sauce.
