Tuna Fish Tuna Squish

Notes/Suggestions:  Tuna packed in oil retains more nutrients than tuna packed in water.  Makes 2 sandwiches.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of tuna, packed in oil
  • ¼ cup good quality mayonnaise
  • 2 stalks of celery finely chopped
  • 2 tbls sweet relish
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Directions: 

  1. Drain tuna and put into a medium sized mixing bowl. Break the tuna meet up with a fork to fine flakes. Mix in the mayonnaise, celery and sweet relish and combine well. Season with salt and ground black pepper to taste.
  2. Put half the mixture on to whole wheat bread or a soft multi grain roll or in a pita pocket. Add lettuce, sliced tomato or sliced red onion if you want. Delicious! Or serve with a side of multi-grain crackers for kids to make mini sandwiched at lunch.
