Really Easy Rustic Apple Pie
Note/Suggestions: This process also works with any stone fruit or berry as well.Ingredients:
- Pastry for one pie shell (home-made or pre-packaged)
- 4-5 medium sized apples, peeled, cored and slice thinly
- 1 Tbsp Apple Pie Spice
- 3 Tbsp brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp all purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp butter cut into small pieces
Directions:
- In a large bowl, combine the apples and the remaining ingredients.
- Roll out the pastry to a large circle about ¼ inches thick. Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper of a baking mat.
- Fill the center of the pastry with the apple mixture. Fold up the sides of the pastry about 2 inches. It will look very rustic.
- Brush milk, cream or an egg wash on the edges of the pastry and dust with granulated sugar.
- Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until the apples are bubbling and the pastry is golden brown.
