Really Easy Rustic Apple Pie

Note/Suggestions:  This process also works with any stone fruit or berry as well.

Ingredients:

  • Pastry for one pie shell (home-made or pre-packaged)
  • 4-5 medium sized apples, peeled, cored and slice thinly
  • 1 Tbsp Apple Pie Spice
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp all purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp butter cut into small pieces

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the apples and the remaining ingredients.
  2. Roll out the pastry to a large circle about ¼ inches thick. Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper of a baking mat.
  3. Fill the center of the pastry with the apple mixture. Fold up the sides of the pastry about 2 inches. It will look very rustic.
  4. Brush milk, cream or an egg wash on the edges of the pastry and dust with granulated sugar.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until the apples are bubbling and the pastry is golden brown.
