Cooking Cookies with Kids_YIKES!

The mixer was churning; the flour was floating, the sugar, with wet fingers, they were eating. All was well in the house of Bentley, not one thing was left that was not dusted a plenty. The children were eating the dough right out of the bowl; the freshly baked cookies were simply mowed. The sprinkles and frosting were gone in a flash and the mini chocolate chips fell off the table in a horrible crash.

The finished cookies were great, while looking a mess, still tasted like cookies, and all they ate. Green angles, black snowman, a few oddly decorated treats are all a testament to this marvelous feat. The kids had fun and the mess, not bad at all; it felt a little like a scene from Little Rascals combined with Lucille Ball.

At the end of the day, mom settled down with a smile on her face and a glass of wine in her hand…once again cooking with kids didn’t go according to plan. It was fun, this is true which is why each year it is done by me and by you.

Happy Holidays.
