How to Hard Cook an Egg
- Put the desired amount of eggs in one layer on the bottom of the pot.
- Put the pot in the sink and fill with cold water the water is 1 inch over the eggs.
- Put the pot on a burner set to medium-high heat and let the water come to a boil.
- Put the lid on the pot while the water is boiling and move the pot onto a cold burner.
- Set a timer:
- 18 minutes for X-large eggs
- 15 minutes for large-sized eggs
- 12 minutes for medium-sized eggs
- When the timer goes off, put the pot in the sink and run cold water into the pan until the eggs are cool.
To Peel: Gently tap a cooled egg on a hard surface until it has mulitple cracks in it. Roll the egg inbetween your hands until there are small crackles all over the egg. Use your fingers to start peeling off the shell. holding the egg under cold water or sumerging it into cold water will add in peeling the egg.
Note: Egg shells can be composted or thrown away. The egg is ready to eat or use in a variety of recipes.
